Our famous countrymen Hans Christian Andersen and Carl Nielsen were regular visitors in some of these places, seeking inspiration in the beautiful surroundings.

Throughout time owners and names of the castles and manor houses have often been changed.
Today most of them are privately owned and can therefore only to be admired from the outside, but some are open to the public or for a walk in the park during the season.
